OSTEOPATHIC MODELS

between tradition and evidence-based practice

7th - 8th NOVEMBER 2024 | SARONNO | ITALY

9th Open Forum for Osteopathic Education conference

150  YEARS AFTER THE BIRTH OF OSTEOPATHY, LET’S DEBATE

It is time to start a debate on the theoretical models adopted in osteopathy and we will do so together with the most brilliant critical minds of the osteopathic scene: on November 7th and 8th in Saronno with the Open Forum for Osteopathic Education of OsEAN dedicated precisely to osteopathic models – between tradition and evidence-based practice.

Let's continue the debate

The idea is to respond to the request for a “Call for Paper” made by Steve Vogel with the editorial, published in 2021 by IJOM and thus discuss the theoretical models adopted so far. We will do this by involving 17 distinguished speakers, educators and researchers of international renown and from all over the world.

Osteopathy: between traditional models and new research

The debate is extremely necessary at this precise moment because osteopathy and therefore osteopathic education itself are facing an important transition.

On the one hand, the models and theories of tradition and, on the other, the innovation of research that refers to the bio-psycho-social model.

The bio-psycho-social model and manual treatment

Among the supporters of the bio-psycho-social model there are also those who question the real effect of manual treatment on the patients’ bodies. This is why it becomes necessary to ask questions and go back to confronting and making the tradition of manual therapy dialogue with the new evidence of research.

Let's get together: we are waiting for you

Like the other editions, this 9th conference of the OsEAN Open Forum is organised for teachers, educators, professionals and students in the osteopathic field.

Why an open forum?

In the last decade, Osteopathy has expanded with an impressive speed, therefore training proposals that require increasingly higher quality standards are rise.

Within this changing landscape, educational institutions and professionals seek to improve and grow individually, but together we can do better.

OsEAN, as a network, believes in the importance of exchange and cooperation.

The Open Forums are the concrete result of these firm convictions, born in 2009 to offer everyone a cooperative atmosphere of dialogue, comparison and sharing of best practices, but also updating.
